To expand mass market access to electric mobility, we have introduced a Fuel Substitution Loan, 3-Year pay over time program to finance the purchase of our SGV150, targeted primarily to motorcycle taxi (kabaza) operators.
Our pay over time scheme has on average, doubled the take home incomes of motorcycle taxi operators from avoiding high fuel expenses. As Malawi also continues to experience fuel shortages, the cost savings are further compounded from operators avoiding black market fuel costs and long queues that slow down income generation.
One of the most crucial aspects of accelerating electric mobility is the technical skills transfer and the backup that comes with it. Our certification program jointly developed with the auto-mechanic department at Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute ensures that our electric transition partners personnel are adequately trained on all aspects of maintenance, repair, assembly, and conversion of gasoline motorcycles to electric.
We have recently expanded our collaboration with Don Bosco and the students from the European Union funded SAAM Mobility program with San Viator International in Bilbao, Spain have joined our #NextGenerationApprenticeship program as attachments!
